Reply to a letter of complaint

Dear Mr. Arief
Machine Engine 7530
Firstly, we would like to apologise sincerely for the delay in replying to your letter of mei 26th. This was due to the technical inspection which was necessary before we could give you a satisfactory answer.
As soon as we learnt of the problem with the vehicle, we arranged for it to be collected by the main agent for dublin and asked then for a detailed report. They found that the offside rear wheel-bearing had gone, and due to the Machine Engine having been warehouse in this condition, the differential gear was badly worn and needed replacing. The total cost of this was $245. If you had taken the Machine Engine off the place at the first sign of trouble, it would only have cost us $290. Therefore, the fact that you continued to warehouse the Iron has cost us an additional $275. In te normal way, we would have been obliged to debit you with this excess repair bill. However, in view of the inconvenience you suffered, we are prepared to waive our claim on you.
We sympathise with you and deeply regret the difficulties you experienced. However, we regret that in no way can be held responsible for any cost you incurred. We would ask you to refer clause 27 of the hire agreement. We hope that now you know the full facts of the case you will withdraw your claim and accept our solution.
Yours sincerly,

Nawi Nizmullah Hasbi

Letter of complaint

Dear Sirs,
Machine Engine 7530 – Mei 18th – 23th
I am writing to complaint about the Machine Engine I hired from you on the above dates. When I left your Machine Engine at Labuhan, there was no one at the depot so. I could not explain the events of the previous Five days.
On Sunday 18th Mei, I collected a Machine Engine from your depot at the Labuhan. A few hours later, the Machine Engine overheated and had to be replaced. The next day, the transmission became very noisy. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to contact you, I had to ask a local garage to inspect it. I enclose the garage’s invoice for $180.
On the Wednesday, I telephoned you and was asked to take the Mesin to your agent in crok. The Machine Engine was checked and I was assured that it was roadworthy. However, the next day the Machine Engine pulled violently to the right, narrowly missing a stone wall. I could not see anything wrong so I continued carefully to garage in Limerick. I telephoned your office for advice, but all i could get was the answer-phone. I left details, asking you to phone me back.
Having headr nothing by 1 p.m, I asked the garage to repair the Machine Engine so that I could get back to dublin. They did so, I enclose the garage bill $170.
I returned the Machine Engine as arranged on Friday at 2 p.m. but your office was already closed and I saw no one.
I am sure you will appreciate the annoyance and frustration of the past week during which I know I have lost substantial busisness. I look forward to receiving your comments and to receiving your cheque for $189 in settlement for the two repair bills.

Yours faithfully,

Zaenal Arief

About A&W All-American Food
One hot day in June of 1919 in Lodi, California an entrepreneur named Roy Allen mixed up a batch of creamy root beer and sold the first frosty mug of this delightful beverage for one nickel. Now, over seventy years later, A&W Root Beer is the world's number one selling root beer and is still made fresh daily and sold at hundreds of A&W Restaurants. Allen experienced tremendous success and in 1923, joined in partnership with Frank Wright creating the name, A&W. In 1925, A&W began to franchise and by 1933 had over 170 units in the mid-western United States.

In 1995, Sid Feltenstein recognized the potential of this American icon and purchased the company. With America's fondness for nostalgia and the memories of frosty root beer floats, a rejuvenated A&W emerged and launched a new era of growth unlike any in its history. Mr. Feltenstein, a food service veteran of over 25 years, is continuing to develop new restaurants across the country and around the world. Today, customers can enjoy A&W Root Beer floats and hamburgers in over 1100 locations.

A&W Restaurants are still serving the great food you remember - great-tasting food, made-to-order with fresh quality ingredients and always served up with a frosty mug and a warm smile! We still make our burgers, hot dogs, French fries, onion rings, and, of course, our famous A&W Root Beer the way you like it, the way you remember - using fresh ingredients and a measure of care. We're still making memories and you can own a piece of the good old days with A&W and Yum! Brands.

In 2002 A&W became a part of YUM! Brands Inc, the world's largest restaurant company in terms of system units with nearly 32,500 in more than 100 countries and territories. Yum! Brands also owns KFC, Long John Silver's, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants.

Kebab Turky Baba Rafi
Another young Surabaya incised great achievement. He is Hendy Setiono, president Kebab Turki Baba Rafi. His achievements are recognized not only domestically, but also in foreign countries. Why?

His face and his appearance was like a young child. That afternoon, he berkemeja brown batik black pants. Pretty simple. Not reflected the look of a boss of the company beromzet more than Rp 1 billion per month.

That is the daily appearance Hendy Setiono, Presdir Kebab Turki Baba Rafi Surabaya. By late 2006 edition of Tempo magazine, he was named as one of ten figures which assessed options to change Indonesia. Of course, a recognition of the plume for Hendy. Moreover, businesses that he struggled quite a business that is not familiar to the ear. He was still 23 years old! Wow, still very young for a boss who has 100 outlets in 16 cities in Indonesia.

With friendly, the man born in Surabaya, March 30, 1983, was invited into his office Java Post in commercial Manyar Regency Garden, Semolo Nginden region. "Usually I come to work somewhat in the afternoon. But, because today there is an appointment with you, I am somewhat meruput came into office, "said Hendy started the conversation.

At that time, the clock has been pointing at 11.00. For Hendy, at 11:00 am still fairly new because usually he entered office more than at 12.00.

He then tells the beginning of the business that they do these kebabs. Kebab is a typical Middle Eastern food (Middle East) are made of roast beef, blended with fresh vegetables, and spiced mayonnaise, then rolled in tortillas. Actually, many kebab circulating in Qatar and other Middle East countries.

However, Hendy said, the most delicious kebabs are from Istanbul, Turkey. Therefore, he used the "trade mark" Turkey to attract potential customers.

Hendy tells, in May 2003, he visited his father who served in the oil company in Qatar. During the country's new Asian Games successfully implement it, he met many kebab shops that dijubeli local residents. Because of curiosity, Hendy who claimed hobby eat it and then try the food is delicious when eaten in these hot conditions. "Apparently, it's very good. I do not think it feels like it, "said the eldest of two brothers pair Ir Bambang Sudiono and Endang H Setijowati it.

Not only a full stomach, when it dawned on the minds of Hendy direct the mind to open a kebab business in Indonesia. The reason, besides not many such efforts, in Indonesia there are citizens of Middle East descent are spread in various cities.

"People Indonesia too much or Umrah pilgrimage. Usually, they never felt the kebabs in Makkah or Madinah. Well, they can reminisce enough to eat kebabs in my outlet, "he explained.

"Hence, while in Qatar, I also used the time to hunt kebab recipe. I look at the most crowded kebab shop patrons, "said Hendy who married Nilamsari, 23, and is now blessed with two children, Rafi Darmawan, 3, and Reva Audrey Zahifa, 2, is.
Upon arriving back in Singapore, he went on business strategy. The first do is to find a partner. He does not want his business carelessly. He then met Hasan Baraja, who also happened to his business friends happy culinary. Initially, they deliberately do trial and error to explore business opportunities and market share.
"Apparently, kebab recipe from Qatar who feel strong enough cengkehnya cardamom and not so favored consumers. Any size is too big. Hence, we modify the flavor and the right size to make it more familiar to the people of Indonesia, "he said.
September 2003, the carts selling kebabs first began operating. Precisely at one corner Nginden Semolo Road, adjacent to the campus and residence area.
Why the wagon? Hendy has a reason. "Making the cart cheaper than making a permanent stall. No need much capital. The cart was flexible, removable, "he said.
Problem name of her bar Baba Rafi, he admitted inspired his first children's names, Rafi Darmawan. "Given Mr Hendy Kebab name is not really commercial," he said, chuckling.
At that moment occurred to him the name of the eldest, Rafi. "If you think about it, use the name of Baba Rafi, funny taste. Baba it means the father, so Baba means father Rafi Rafi. "
Starting a business is not easy. Moreover, to achieve success as it is now. Like grief was felt that the prospective father of three children. "For example, selling money run off employees. Many employees are out. Just a few weeks of work already asked out, "he said.
In fact, once a day, because it does not have its own staff, Hendy and wife selling. That day happened to rain. Not many people buy a kebab. Hence, too little income. "The money from selling that day be used to buy food at a seafood stall just not enough. Well, that's bitter experience that we have always remembered, "he said.
Do not want to half-a half of doing business, high school graduates Negeri 5 Surabaya was eventually decided to drop out of college in the second year. "I OD alias out first. But, I do not regret leaving school to build a business, "said Hendy who had studied at the Faculty of Computer Science ITS.
Her decision to leave college to pursue the business kebab had resisted her parents. They want Hendy into the office like his father. Therefore, when he asked for financial aid, parents will assume business dilakoni is fun project. "They thought I was not serious on business. In my heart, I want to prove to the father and mother that someday I'll make it, "he explained.
Remarkably, Hendy business success did not take long. Only in 3-4 years, he successfully developed wings everywhere. In fact, until the end of 2006, the young entrepreneur already has 100 outlets noted Kebab Turki Baba Rafi spread across 16 cities in Indonesia. Not only in Java, but also in Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi and Kalimantan.
Looking ahead, Hendy plans to expand its business was overseas. Two of the targeted countries are Malaysia and Thailand. "BBC London TV and magazine Business Week International never cover my business is. After that, there are people who offered me to open outlets in Trinidad & Tobago as well as Cambodia, "he explained.
Successful business franchise kebab Hendy also produces a variety of awards, both from within and outside the country. Among other things, ISMBEA (Indonesian Small Medium Business Entrepreneur Award) 2006 provided the minister of cooperatives and SMEs. Hendy was also ordained as ASIA's Best Entrepreneur Under 25 by Business Week International, 2006. To achieve these awards, he is a candidate to compete with 20 other entrepreneurs from various countries in Asia.
Men calm was also awarded the Outstanding Entrepreneur Citra Indonesia CENTURY-21 which conferred Indonesian Professional. Then, reward Enterprise 50 from SWA magazine for the 50 companies that developed in the last year. And, at the end of 2006, Tempo magazine crowned Hendy became one of ten options that change the character of Indonesia.
Kebab Turki Baba Rafi successfully won several awards at the ceremony awarding Indonesia Night Franchise Award 2009 organized by the Magazine Franchise Info. Wendy's

Wendy's is a chain of fast food restaurants based in Dublin, Ohio and owned by the American corporation Wendy's International, Inc. There are over 6,600 Wendy's restaurants worldwide.

The chain is famous for its chili. Also, it is known for its Frosty dairy desserts, the fact that their burgers are square and made from fresh (as opposed to frozen) ground beef, and its making of all sandwich items to order. Unlike most fast food chains, Wendy's historically did not serve breakfast, except for stores in Puerto Rico. Wendy's tried serving breakfast in the mid-1980s, but the endeavor quickly failed.
History
Founding

Wendy's was founded by Dave Thomas and Robert Barney in 1969 and named after Dave's 8-year old daughter, Melinda, who had the nickname of "Wendy." The corporate headquarters is located in Dublin, Ohio. The first Wendy's restaurant was opened in Columbus, Ohio on November 15, 1969, and grew rapidly to open over 3,000 stores by 1985. However, by the mid-1980s some Wendy's restaurants became underperforming and closed. By 1989, Dave Thomas came out of retirement and started doing commercials for Wendy's and helped rebuild the restaurant until his death.
International expansion

After international expansion in the 1980s, the chain retrenched in the late 1990s. In 1999 it pulled out of London and Hong Kong (its Hong Kong branch was located on Lockhart Road in Wan Chai).
Ownership

In 1995, Tim Hortons' popularity had spilled over to American investors; the chain's parent company, The TDL Group ("TDL" stands for the original corporate name "Tim Donut Ltd."), was acquired by Wendy's International, Inc.. As a result, Ron Joyce, Tim Horton's partner and first franchisee, was, for a time, the largest shareholder of Wendy's.
News events

Chili hoax On March 22, 2005, Anna Ayala of Las Vegas, NV claimed to find an amputated human finger in her chili. On April 21 she was arrested and charged with attempted grand larceny in connection with the finger discovery claim. On May 13, police announced that they had positively identified the finger's owner, an associate of Ayala's husband [1]. The associate had lost his finger in an industrial accident in December 2004. Mrs. Ayala pled guilty to the charge in September 2005 and was sentenced to nine years in prison. Her husband pleaded guilty to being an accomplice and received a twelve year sentence on January 18, 2006.

Locations of Wendy's

Aside from the United States, Wendy's has opened restaurants in Aruba, Canada, Cayman Islands, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Indonesia, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers didn't last long in Australia nor in Colombia. Nine restaurants were picked up in Victoria by Hungry Jack's in 1986 after the Wendy's Hamburger Chain went bust. The Hungry Jack's Story explains in limited detail about the Wendy's Hamburgers acquisition. Stores in Australia called Wendy's are an Australian ice cream franchise which is unrelated to the American hamburger chain (stores for both are found in New Zealand. See Wendy's (Australia). Wendy's restaurants closed in Greece in 2002 after almost 8 years of operation due to heavy competition from other restaurants such as Goody's and McDonald's. Wendy's also had locations in major cities across the United Kingdom; these were sold to McDonald's in 1999. Wendy's also had 18 restaurants in Argentina. All of them were closed in November 2000. Wendy's had been in the local market for four years and made the decision due to the poor performance of its restaurants. [2] [3]

Advertising

Starting on January 9, 1984, elderly actress Clara Peller was featured in the successful "Where's the Beef?" North American commercial campaign for Wendy's. Her famous line quickly entered the American pop culture (it was even used by Walter Mondale in a debate with Gary Hart in the Democratic primary election) and served to promote Wendy's hamburgers. Peller, age 84, was dropped from the campaign in 1985 because she performed in a commercial for Prego spaghetti sauce, saying she "finally found" the beef. Peller was soon after replaced by Wendy's founder Dave Thomas himself. Soft-spoken and cheerful, the "Dave" ads generally focused on Thomas praising his products and offering a commitment to quality service, although there would occasionally be "wackier" ads as well. After Dave Thomas' death in 2002, Wendy's struggled to find a new advertising campaign. After a round of conventional ads describing the food they serve, in 2004 they tried using a character they made called "Mr. Wendy" who claimed to be the unofficial spokesperson for the chain. After seven months, Wendy's returned to an animated campaign focusing on the difference between Wendy's square hamburgers and the round hamburgers of competitors. Wendy's marketing arm engages in product placement in films (such as The Day After Tomorrow, Mr. Deeds, and Garfield: The Movie) and television and is sometimes seen on ABC's hit reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition serving food to the more than 100 construction workers.

Dunkin' Donuts

Tahun demi tahun berlalu.

J-CO

J.CO is owned by Johnny Andrean, a stylist and owner of a Bread talk shops network in Indonesia. J.CO was inspired from donuts in US. Johnny who often go on business trip to US, get to taste many donuts with different flavors and uniqueness. At first, he wanted to purchase an US donuts franchise, but he found out some limitations of the product. Its on the basic ingredients and production process that lacks in quality control.

Thus Johnny decided to develop his own donut without getting the US donut franchise. He chose to produce a perfect shape and taste from donuts that he had tried in the US, focusing specially on the quality of the basic ingredients and production process.

When he came back to Indonesia, he then develop a donut shop with concept, shape and taste that are similar with the donuts shop in US. Johnny so far have seen none of the donuts shop in Indonesia have open kitchen concept, thus he started it on J.CO. So, apart from having different taste, the shop concept is also made as open kitchen so the consumers can view various attractions in the making of donuts, right from the mixing up ingredients up to the ready to be sold donuts.

Their donuts were made by machines, be it during the mixing up of ingredients, cooking and topping up the donuts. The only human force involved was only during the shaping of the donuts. That is also with the help of the shapers that is used.

All the machines used where fully imported from US. The same with the basic ingredients, more than 50% of it were imported from overseas. Like the chocolate, they were imported from Belgium and milk from New Zealand. Also, for the drinks, their ingredients were mostly imported too. The coffee bean some were imported from Italy and Costa Rica. With these, J.CO is positioned to be the premium quality products in Indonesia’s donuts market.

Some might say that J.CO’s logo is in resemblance with Starbuck’s logo, but do take careful look at it. Its different. The circular border might be the same, but that’s not a trademark. J.CO Donuts & Coffee uses the symbol of Peacock in their logo. Peacock here symbolize beauty, elegant, soft and eternity.

The beauty and softness is reflected from the taste and shapes of the donuts. While eternity can be seen from the consumer’s loyalty that willing to stand the long queue at the shops just to get their favorite J.CO donuts.

Each donuts were named creatively according to the toppings and flavors. It creates an uniqueness and easy to remember name, For example, Cheese Me Up is a name for the donuts with melted cheese on top. Tira Miss U is a name of the donuts with tiramisu topping.

It took Johnny three years before launching J.CO Donuts & Coffee in the Indonesian market. This three years were used to prepare the standard and operating procedure, choosing the basic ingredients, fixing the product’s quality and production process and the business operation.

After all, here comes J.CO to our market. The first shop was opened in Supermall Karawaci at Tangerang (not far from Jakarta) on the 26th of June 2005. The J.CO Donuts & Coffee in Indonesia were all controlled and owned by Jhonny himself, whilst the overseas shops were franchised, in which we all knew that Singapore’s J.CO Donuts & Coffee franchise is owned by BreadTalk group.

J.CO is now open for franchise and spreading wide overseas. Keep on J.CO-ing and enjoy…

Dear Mr. Sijabat,

Reference for Dinata
Thank you for your letter that you created on January 7, about the reference to Mr. Dinata. Dinata has worked as a kontarktor in my company since 1964 and has been gaining a lot of work experience and he's a anagat responsible for all the tasks she is doing. He is also a very deft in work and able to work with the team.
I believe that Dinata could be a suitable person to serve as supervasior in your company and very good when recommended in your company.

Your Sincerely,

Mr. Chandra
